Fiber Cement Siding Installation Westchester County NY

Most homeowners want a siding material that looks like natural wood or stone but without all the maintenance challenges that come with it.

Plus, who wants to take on the price tag? Natural stone and wood siding look great, but you pay for it – there is no way around the cost of the materials.

Natural wood and stone siding is an excellent option for certain homeowners. For most, the combination of cost and long term care expenses put them outside the realm of feasibility. This is what makes Fiber Cement such a great option for so many.

Fiber Cement Siding

Years ago, fiber cement took the siding market by storm and today it is still recognized as a revolutionary siding material. Recently, here in Westchester fiber cement has started to catch on and for good reason, fiber cement is fantastic.

Fiber cement siding brings to bear a wide range of benefits. Form and function have found a happy union in the production of James Hardie Fiber cement; when you analyze its looks and design options right alongside its durability and ROI for local homeowners it’s hard to beat.

Siding Types:

When researching siding types like vinyl, stucco, cedar, brick, or stone, it won’t take long to get your homework done; you only have a few choices. BUT with fiber cement, you get a wide range of choices, the best of all options honestly.

  • Fiber cement offers homes fantastic protection through each of our four seasons.
  • With comparable strength to that of stone and masonry but with the look, feel, and variety of shingles, wood clapboards, even stone or brick.
  • Fiber cement is flexible- whether your dream house is a classic Colonial, ladylike Victorian or handsome Craftsman, James Hardie’s wide range of siding options and styles will help you capture the look and feel you’re going for.

Westchester is home to some of the Nations most beautiful homes,  be it a modern stunner or a historically accurate, architecturally correct look you’re after Hardie has a fiber Cement style to suit.

What is in Fiber Cement Siding?

  • Fiber cement siding is a durable, long-lasting and low-maintenance material that’s used on residential houses and some commercial projects here in Westchester. Fiber cement is a semi-rigid siding material that provides substantial protection while still maintaining some flexibility.
  • Fiber cement is made up of a few simple ingredients: Portland cement, sand, water, and cellulose fibers. However, the composition will change depending on the manufacturer. James Hardie’s formulation includes proprietary additives that enhance the performance of the product.

Can Fiber Cement be Painted or Stained?

  • Yes to both! You can paint it, just like real wood. Now, this comes with a few caveats. Because it is cement-based the fiber cement material must be stained using solutions specifically formulated for this use. But by taking the time to test the look you’re going for and taking the time during the planning and application process homeowners are thrilled to see just how well fiber-cement takes stain and how nice it looks.

How much does Fiber Cement Cost?

Fiber cement is long-lasting and provides excellent overall value. Generally, it costs less than brick, synthetic stucco and some wood siding options.

  • It’s typically equally or less expensive than hardboard or composite siding, and a bit more costly than vinyl. But run the ROI, and it’s a much better choice.
  • Fiber cement is so durable that this will be the last time your house needs to be re-sided in our lifetime.
  • We can also wrap you home in equally durable and attractive soffits, trims and facia.
